I had experienced some trouble compiling this on a few machines and
made it a bunch more portable.  It was only then that I noticed that
someone had already submitted a patch for some of the things I'd
fixed.

I've never had a single problem compiling a single portion of
this code.  Which is why it's the way it is. :)

I have heard reports that it doesn't compile quite right, or that
it's not newbie friendly or something...  One guy even gave me a
patch.  If you're having trouble getting this to compile, then
try his patch by Horatio B. Bogbindero <william.s.yu@ieee.org>.

It works like this:
    patch -p1 < try_this_patch.patch

P.S. The spec file uses the patch by default.
