                             Concept : Tank Types

Tanks in Empire include traditional gun-equipped armored fighting vehicles as
well as other forms of land vehicles.

The tanks currently available are:

   tank 1
   tank 2
   armored carrier
   assault vehicle
   battletank
   hellraiser
   scorpion
   stinger

These tank types differ in their fundamental capabilities; the sizes of guns
may differ, some tanks are faster than others, some are all-terrain vehicles
capable of mountain travel, etc. The capabilities of each vehicle are given
by the show command. The headings are as follows. For the building data:

                             Concept : Tank Types

lcm The lcm required to build the tank.
hcm The hcm required to build the tank.
avail The available workforce needed to build the tank.
tech The minimum technology required to build the tank.
$ The cost of the tank.

The headings for the capability listing are

def defensive armament of the tank
spd the distance/mu for moving (in relative units)
vis how visible the tank is, (relative units)
spy how far the tank can see, (i.e. how good the communication equipment is),
     again in relative units
rng twice the distance the guns can fire, (assuming a high technology level)
fir the number of guns the tank can fire at once
mpg the vehicle's fuel efficiency factor
tnk number of vehicles the tank can transport
pln number of planes/missiles the tank can carry

Tanks can be built, scrapped, and upgraded in tank farms (sector type z), are

moved via the navigate command, and are able to move through any non-mountain,
non-wasteland land sector. The only place they cannot load and unload is on
bridge spans.

Tanks also encompass all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). These are generally small,
special vehicles that are able to move more quickly than normal tanks and have
the ability to move through mountainous terrain.

Each tank can carry a certain amount of products and has certain capabilities.
These are listed under the cargoes & abilities section. The cargoes give the
number of each product that can be carried. The abilities are as follows.

plane The vehicle can carry planes with the light attribute set.
miss The vehicle can carry missiles.
spy The vehicle can engage in spying activities
atv The vehicle is an all-terrain vehicle.
land The vehicle is an effective assault vehicle.
pet The vehicle requires petrol as fuel.
