                             Command : SATELLITE

 SYNTAX:
   [##:##] Command: satellite [<PLANE>|<SECTS>] [blmpst]

The satellite command is how you get information from your satellites. A
satellite must be in orbit (launched) before it will begin transmitting. The
type of information you get from a satellite depends on what type of satellite
it is.

An ordinary satellite will return data that looks remarkably like radar out-
put. The report header indicates the satellite type and number, the orbit
vector (or `sta' if it is stationary), and the current position. The remain-
ing lines show a map. If the satellite has imaging capabilities you will see
the sector designations. If not then you will see a '?' for inhabited sec-
tors. A satellite with imaging capabilities will also show the ships within
range.

Spy satellites provide much more information. Their output is a table that
looks remarkably like spy output followed by another table listing all the
ships in the area with their owner, ship type, and efficiency.

                             Command : SATELLITE

Spy satellites with imaging capabilities can also see subs!

Satellites with enhanced capabilities will report additional and more accurate
information. Enhanced landsats, for example, will report underground resource
deposits. Enhanced spysats will report additional commodities and bunker for-
tifications.

By specifying a string of one or more optional report selectors as a second
parameter, the report can be tailored to show you any or all of the following
items:

       m - radar map
l - detailed list of sectors in the area
s - detailed list of ships in the area
b - detailed list of balloons in the area
z - detailed list of trains in the area
t - detailed list of tanks in the area
p - detailed list of planes in the area

                             Command : SATELLITE

After launching, a satellite will take a while to come on line. During this
period, shown by mobility being less than 127, you cannot use the satellite.
