                               Command : RECON

 SYNTAX:
   [##:##] Command: recon <SPYPLANES> <ESCORTS> <SECT> <PATH>

The `recon' command is used to gather intelligence about sectors by means of
spy plane overflights. The planes take off from their respective airports,
assemble, fly the mission and land in the destination sector.

<SPYPLANES> represents a list of planes which are to be performing the intel-
ligence gathering operation. Only planes which are provided with petrol and
have sufficient mobility will be successfully selected for the mission.

<ESCORTS> represent a list of fighter planes which are capable of escorting
the transports all the way to the target. To be selected, escorts must have
fuel and mobility.

Remember that the maximum altitude of the mission is determined by the plane
with the lowest flight ceiling. While spy planes by themselves can climb to
very high altitudes, they will not be able to do so if accompanied by lower-
flying escorts.

                               Command : RECON

<SECT> is an assembly point. This is a sector over which all of the planes in
the mission meet before proceeding on as a group to the destination sector.
The assembly point must not be more than four sectors away from any of the
planes selected for the mission.

<PATH> is the flightpath from assembly point to destination. (See `info
flightpath' for information about specifying flightpaths.) Note: if you want
to fly higher than altitude 1, you should include an altitude change (e.g.,
"^4") early in the flight path.

Recon missions can be intercepted just like any other mission. If the desti-
nation sector is not an airport, then all planes in the mission must have
V/STOL capability.
