===== GENERAL REDUCE NETLIB INDEX =====

Welcome to the REDUCE version of netlib, a system for the distribution of
software by electronic mail. This index is the reply you'll get to the
single line message
        send index
or equivalently, the messages "help" or "info", sent to the network address
reduce-netlib@rand.org, reduce-netlib@can.nl, redlib@elib.zib-berlin.de or
reduce-netlib@pi.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp. The single line message can either be
the subject of the message or the body.

The available information is divided into a number of libraries, the names
of which are listed below. You can obtain the full index to each library
and the individual members of each library as follows:

To examine the full index for any library send a request of the form:
             send index for groebner
To retrieve the file "groebner.red" from the library groebner:
             send groebner.red from groebner
To retrieve just the sizes of file names rather than the contents:
send list of groebner.red groebner.tst from groebner
To retrieve a complete list of the indices for all the libraries:
             send complete index.

When the file name is not used in more than one library, you can leave out
the library name. So to get, from the library info, the REDUCE information
package which lists all the available versions, it is sufficient to send
the message
             send info-package.

You may include several requests in a single piece of mail, but put each
on a separate line.

Send requests to reduce-netlib@rand.org or one of the other server
addresses, even though replies appear to be coming from addresses like
"daemon%hilbert@rand.org". You'll be talking to a program, so don't expect
it to understand much English. If you need to talk to a human, or have
problems with netlib, send mail to "reduce@rand.org".

Entries in the various indices are dated to indicate the date of the last
change (except for the REDUCE Forum mail file in the info library, which
is updated daily). In particular, the dates in this index are changed
whenever any file in the relevant library is changed. So by periodically
perusing this index, you can determine if any of your files need updating,
or new material is available.

Information about changes and additions to the network library is sent at
regular intervals to participants in the REDUCE Forum. If you would like
to join this, please send a message requesting inclusion to
reduce-forum-request@rand.org.
