INSTALL: -*-text-*- overview of how to install the generated XY-pic files.
======  $Id: INSTALL,v 2.6 1992/06/24 01:23:34 kris Exp $

This file assumes that you have either generated XY-pic or downloaded
the `ready to use' package. We'll assume that you are using a 300
dots per inch Canon-based laser printer (like the HP laserjet or Apple
laserwriter). Below you will find the following sections:

-1- Copyleft
-2- Overview of files and where they should be installed
-3- Bugs & comments

-2- OVERVIEW OF FILES AND WHERE THEY SHOULD BE INSTALLED
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You should have the following files (some of the numbers might be
different if you generated XY-pic yourself). For each group of files
is explained what it contains and where it should be installed.

The first three files contain general information and should be installed
in a publicly readable place:

	INSTALL this file...
TRAILER summary of features and availability.
	COPYING GNU General Public License.

The next three contain the actual macros and should be installed in a
directory that users will see through their TEXINPUTS path:

	xyamstex.tex	extensions for non-AMS-TeX users
xypic.sty	extensions for LaTeX and AMS-LaTeX users
	xypic.tex	the XY-pic macros

The five TeX Font Metric files should be installed in a directory that
users will see through their TEXFONTS path:

	xyatip10.tfm
	xybtip10.tfm
	xyline10.tfm
	xymisc10.tfm
	xyqc10.tfm

Similarly the PK bitmap font files (or whatever you generated for your
system) should be installed where DVI previewers and printer drivers will
see them (e.g., the xdvi program should see them through the XDVIFONTS
path).

	xyatip10.300pk
	xyatip10.329pk
	xyatip10.360pk
	xyatip10.432pk
	xybtip10.300pk
	xybtip10.329pk
	xybtip10.360pk

	xyline10.300pk
	xyline10.329pk
	xyline10.360pk
	xyline10.432pk
	xymisc10.300pk
	xymisc10.329pk
	xymisc10.360pk
	xymisc10.432pk
	xyqc10.300pk
	xyqc10.329pk
	xyqc10.360pk
	xyqc10.432pk

The typeset manual can be installed anywhere; you may test your
installation by printing it:

	xypicman.dvi

It uses some AMS-TeX specific fonts, but this can be safely ignored.
