Chip,

A resonant frequency of 1KHz (one THOUSAND cps) for your coil still 
sounds real low.  How are you determining your actual frequency?  I 
have a 4" diameter coil that's about 19" long wound with 1000 turns 
that tunes in at around 450 THOUSAND hertz...that's a difference of a 
factor of 450x between your tune and mine?!?  

Regardless, enjoy your new toys!  They make things a whole lot 
easier.
