Hello Hackers!

This version of nethack was recompiled by me, Jeff Urlwin, for OS/2 2.0 with
the IBM CSet/2 version 1.0 on September 24, 1992. The original port to OS/2
was done by Timo Hakulinen and his work GREATLY reduced mine (THANK!!!).
Most of the work that I did was to make sure that all the system routines were
properly prototyped via system include files.

If you have any problems/questions, I may be reached via:

Portions of the original readme.os2 are below:

After unzipping the nethack zip file, the following files should have been
created in that directory:

GUIDEBOO.K 51894 NetHack guidebook in ASCII format

The entire game requires approximately 1.1 MB free disk space.

Before attempting to install this as a program on you WPS or PM desktop,
you will want to restore the Extended attributes of the NETHACK.EXE
file. To do this, change directory to the directory where you unzipped
the ZIP file (should be NH30JOS2.ZIP). Then run the "batch" file RESTOREA.CMD.

When the game is played for the first time, one additional file, RECORD,
is created for the game's scoring records. If an old record file already
exists, it will be used instead.

Old saved games (*.SAV) or bones files (BONES.*) from previous versions
of NetHack should be deleted, since they will NOT work with the newest
version.

You will have to edit NETHACK.CNF file to make it reflect your directory
setup as well as your personal preferences regarding game options. See
guidebook for more details.

NetHack 3.0 is free but copyrighted - see LICENSE file for details on what
you may and may not do with this program.

Good luck, and happy hacking!!!!
