II SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Processor
As a minimum, you'll need a Pentium processor (100Mhz) with at least 16 Megabytes of RAM, to use Installing CDecoder effectively. Although it will work on a slower system, like a 486, the performance is poor. In general, the faster your processor is, and the more RAM you have, the better the performance will be.

Sound System
You need a sound card, CD drive and speakers in order to make full use of the program. If you are only using the program to decode files, you do not need a complete sound system. But you do need a CD drive

Platform
CDecoder runs equally well on Windows 98 or Windows 95. But it does not run on earlier versions of Windows. The program has not been tested on any other system at this writing. Consequently no support can be provided for CDecoder installed on any system other than the ones listed here.

Help File
The CDecoder Help file is a separate HTML file, called "cdecoder.chm". and requires MS Internet Explorer to work.

III. Installing CDecoder on your Computer

CDecoder is designed for use on a computer running under Windows 98 or 95. It can't be installed in Windows 3.1 or other operating systems.

Run the setup program in Windows 95 or Windows 98 to installCDecoder on your computer. You can install/uninstall the program as often as you like. Do it by using the setup program provided. The setup program unpacks the program files and copies them to your working directory.

Here's how to install CDecoder:

    1. Start Windows 95/98.

    2. Locate the installation file on your computer.

CDecoder comes packed in a zipped, compressed file called "cdecoder.zip" If you downloaded the file over the internet, look for it in the directory into which you downloaded it. If you received it via Email, look in the email directory, or in the directory which you designated as the destination for email attachments.

    3. Use a progran such as "PKUNZIP" to decompress the files to the installation directory.

    4. You can start the installation process by clicking on "SETUP.EXE" in Windows Explorer, or you can follow steps 5 to 6, below.

    5. From the START menu, select RUN to open the File Run Dialog Box.

    6. Enter the Command Line in the dialog box that will run the setup program. This is the full pathname of the setup program "SETUP.EXE". Use the "Browse" feature to locate this file.

If you copied the setup program to floppy Drive "A", type:
	    A:\SETUP
If your floppy disk goes in your Drive "B", type:
	    B:\SETUP

	Click the OK" command button.

     7. When the setup program loads, just follow the prompts. It will suggest "C:\Program Files\..." as the default destination directory into which the progam will be installed. Choose a different directory if you wish.

     8. The Setup program will unpack the necessary files and place them into the selected directory.

     9. The setup program will notify you when the installation is complete.

Note:
This program requires an up-to-date edition of the file "oleaut32.dll" to be present in your System directory. Some older versions of Windows 98 already include an earlier version of this file. But the present setup program may be unable to handle installation of the replacement file if that becomes necessary. If, when you attempt to run CDecoder, you get an error message that states that your current version of "oleaut32.dll" is out of date, you can get a special installation package called "oleaut32.zip" designed to overcome this problem. Download it from here: http:\\www.woltec.com\files\oleaut32.zip Simply unzip the file and run the setup progam included in the package.
