Installation:

Run the file RUNME.EXE from within Windows (any version).  This will create
a new program group called Iconex. If there are any problems with this
then do the following:

Make a new subdirectory using file manager and place the files ICON.EXE and 
ICON.HLP in there.  Copy the files GRID.VBX, CMDIALOG.VBX, and COMMDLG.DLL
to the directory \WINDOWS\SYSTEM (do not overwrite files which are
already there as they may be later versions)

Create the icon in Program Manager by selecting File New. Press OK. 
Description is Iconex, command line is <created directory>\ICON.EXE and
working directory is <created directory>

The program has a full help facility accessed from the menu or by pressing 
F1.

PLEASE NOTE - ON THE SHAREWARE VERSION THE SAVE FACILITY IS DISABLED -
IF YOU WANT TO USE THE PROGRAM FULLY THEN YOU MUST REGISTER IT


A registered copy allows you to save off icons either as .ICO files or
.BMP files. You will also receive 150 icons in .ICO format and a FREE  
registered copy of Task Master which manages tasks, appointments and launches 
applications - search on TM.ZIP to see shareware version.

Hints on using the program:

There are two groups of command buttons.  The set almost in the middle
of the screen have a button called Select above them.  These buttons will
only work if you press the select button and select an area on the grid.
When you press a button in this group it will only work on the selected area.
To select an area, press select and then click on a cell.  Hold the
mouse button down and drag to the area you want.

The column of buttons down the right side of the screen are global buttons.
These work on the entire icon grid and you do not need to select an
area.

The save facility is fully disabled on this copy

Using created icons:

The created icons can be used on your desktop in place of existing icons.

Windows 3.1:

Click once on icon to be changed and then click on File Properties on the
Program Manager Menu. Click on Change Icon and select your created icon
file. Press OK and the icon will change to your created icon.

Windows 95:

Click on the desktop icon with the right mouse button and select properties.
Click on the 'program' tab and then click on Change Icon. Select your 
icon file and press OK.
