WOW, this is pretty great. Now that i'm here i would like to use this area to post a few items about events within the SWSKC. Not only can we have a few write-ups about the evnets but we can have the results f rom each evnet as well as the results from the SWSKC. Currently there are still events which you can score SWSKC points. These events are; 1) Empoira, KS June 18, 1994 2) Edmond, OK July 2 & 3 1994 3) Rockport, TX Sept 3 & 4 1994 4) Clinton, OK Sept 17 & 18 1994 These events will end the SWSKC season. As more events are added I will try and let every one know the outcome. There is an event scheduled in Topeka, KS which is AKA sanctioned but has not yet committed to the SWSKC. Carolyn Moore from Wind Wizards kite shop is going to talk with the event organizers there to find out if they would like to have their scores tabula ted. Also, SWSKC is meeting with E&M Marketing company in Corpus Christi to discuss the possibility of hosting an event there. We meet with them this past weekend to discuss a few sites and formalities. The event is scheduled for some time in 95. There was also an event in Tulsa, OK. Richard Dermer provided me with some news but right now the information is a bit stchy. Richard said that there were about 15 contestants and they had rain on Sunday. He said that David Bui was there and performed a flawless routine. SWSKC is holding the first of it's kind in Kansas. The Sunflower festival is experimenting with hosting a state wide event. The event is only open to Kansas residence, therefore the scores from this event will only be included for state championship. The club in Rockport, TX Gems in the wind is also preparing for the annual Rockport Kite Fly. don't let the name fool you this is an all out no guts no glory competition. They are making a few changes, like opening up the park to spectators and negoiatin g a weekend parking pass to all competitors and moving the single line competitors closer to the main field. Looks good so far. Flyers and regristration forms should be out early July. If you have any SWSKC new about events or anything please post them here. If you would like to get in touch with me call (210) 659-1803 or (512) 326-6221. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 18 May 1994 06:58:25 -1000 From: Frank Kenisky Message-Id: Organization: Delphi (info@delphi.com email, 800-695-4005 voice) Subject: Re: South West Sport Kite Conference This is not me talking to my self, just a few notes. [Cseveral kiters brought along guitars. Sunday night they played the night away. This may or maynot become a tradition because i feel that sunday may not be an appropriate time since some of the contestants must go to work on monday. But all this will change since Rockport is scheduled for the Labor day weekend. So plan to bring some kind of musical insturment and we'll do a little pickin and grinnin'. Last year we had the likes of Chris Dunlop, Terry Beaudoin and a few others take part in the musical festivities. Also, just another note, i hear that terry crumpler is doing much better. according to a reliable source his doctor has told him not to travel for at least the next six months. Rockport is planning to hold a Rokaku battle. If you are interested get busy making yourself a rok. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
