For you begining kite builders I would like to offer a computer program I wrote in basic. It is about 37kbytes and is menu driven. It contains seven basic kite shapes (two are quads). The program lets you set the size of the kite by specifying the leading edge length, it lets you set the aspect ratio by specifying the nose angle, and lets you set the sail depth by giving you the choice of three different close up angles. The program then displays a complete set of dimensions including the bridle for the particular combination of parameters you have chosen. I have built several kites using this program and they all performed quite well. The program is free except you must send me $2.00 to cover the costs of the disk, the 15 page manual, and the postage. For you people outside the USA I will eat the additional cost unless I get overwhelmed with volume. If I knew how to post the whole works so that all of you out there could download it I would. If any one can help Email me and I will send you the whole package for uploading. I have some other good information that I will post later if this is successful. Read so far, I was going to ask if that's similar to Dave Lord's program we _have_ in rec.kites archive..:-) > I have > built several kites using this program and they all performed quite > well. Dave, unless you have updated your program since I got it from you (more than a year ago), it is already available in rec.kites archive. If you have new version of it, you can save the BASIC-program in ASCII-format and email it to kevin@hawaii.edu, he will update the archive. rec.kites archive does not contain the documentation (I had only paper copy of it), so you could email that too to Kevin. > I have some other good information that I will post later if this is > successful. > Dave Lord > Dave, nice to have you joined rec.kites. I am confident you have a lot of valuable information to share with us. (Have you measured "new" spars like SkyShark, G-Force, new Bemans, etc?.)
