Beach completley deserted, beautiful! I quickly assemble the buggy, grab three kites just in case, walk the 200 yds to the waters edge, tide is midway up, wind perfect, i take out a 50, no tangles, good sign, launch, and i'm off. Wind is blowing a little up the beach so i decide to go down it first to check things out. Up on two wheels, wow, that was easy! This is great! i can't believe we're the first ones here! The wind is not quite strong enough to really power up on two but there are some people walking along the shore and i have to get back up for them, whoops out of the buggy, not on my face but now i know i'm mortal, i've had my first crash, every thing is perfect! Turned around headed north(east)up the beach, not a sole, for a mile or so, then the beach widens out and there are some trucks and four wheelers down at the waters edge, surf fishermen, i zoom by, they stare. Ahh, Wildwood, this is heaven, i know i'm in heaven and i can't believe it is located in New Jersey! The sun has long since set by now, as i turn and head back, the 1/8th moon hanging low the first stars appear. Knew this wouldn't last long but had to do it for a few minutes. Head back into the wind no problem, find my two kites, put them on my back, see my friend Lawrentz flying up near the boardwalk, say what the hell, and start heading for him to see how soft the usually very soft sand is. Yowza, i can't believe it! We can buggy on the whole beach! Man this is gonna be the convention to remember, i am having no trouble going in any direction! Oh yeah, there are some soft spots, but this beach is hard and i'm sure if i could see, i could ride around them. Land kite on big dark square thing that turns out to be a big stack of plywood, wind up line, go behind wood, no wind, fold kite, walk back, stash buggy underneath pier and walk up to motel to see who's about. Corey, the proprietor looks surprised as i walk in. "Man, you are really early", yeah i say, i wanted to be here, what's up. The town is full of catholics at a convention he says, but after sunday, every one leaves and you guys should have the place to your self. Great! It can only get better! aoxomoxoa at the AKA convention = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Sat, 8 Oct 1994 01:43:04 -1000 From: dquad@aol.com (DQuad) Message-Id: <3760k8$hvs@newsbf01.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc.
