Subject: AKA's 18th Annual Convention Workshops & Seminars

Received this document from Richard Dermer who still keep a heading
that he is the Regional Director for Region 9. (I know it saves money.
Just pulling the same ole tricks. You know critize the mundane.)

This is a listing of Workshops & Seminars at the 18th Annual AKA
Convention edited a bit from me but pretty much in tac.

Chalie Sotich: Kites for Indoor Flying and Low-wind Outdoor Flying (a
miniture kite maker, bring magnifinglass)

Scott E. Spencer: Just Do It? A down to earth approach acknowledges
mistakes and encourags us all to learn from those and keep trying.
(Bring egos)

dean jordan: If I Make It, Will It Fly? (scary thought if he has to
ask)

Peter Werba: Indoor Sport Kite Construction and Flying Techniques (as
opposed to making kites outdoors?)

Mel Hickman: Kites In Cyberspace (This ought to be good. No water
ballons)

E.W. Redmond: Gypsy Kites/Tissue, Crepe and Bamboo Dragon Kites

Dave Gombug, Dictator: Sport Kite Symposium (Bring whips and chains)

Ron Gibian: Functional Kite Designs for Dynamic Graphics (will provide
3D glasses)

Abel Ortega: Ballet Basics - Bring Your Sport Kite to Life! (Or hello
can you hear me in the back? My name is Abel Ortega.)

Randy Shannon: Ideas from Creation Island (And then off to NeverNever
Land)

Tom McAlister: Making a Miniature Classic Two-Cell Box

Stretch Tucker: Practical Aerodynamic Research & Application; the Bent
Stick Theory (Bring lots of paper and a recorder there will be a test
afterwards)

Kathy Nixie: Sharing Kites with Kids

Richard and Marian Robertson: 30 Years of Change in Kitemaking (if they
bring their whole family there won't be any room for anyone else.)

Brian Doyle: Understanding Ripstop (Or the Ti Chi of Ripstop)

David Gombug, Dictator: Workshop Wrap Up and Summation (Tell me what a
good job I did.)

Hey, keep the hate mail to yourself. This was in fun. I laughed and
laughed and laughed and am still laughing. It's real funny.

Practical Aerodynamic Research & Application: the Bent Stick Theory.

Okay, seeing that Frank has spilled the beans, here is a sample question
>From the test paper.

Question 7. (5 minutes)
a] Using the shoes of Mickey Mouse, demonstrate how they would fly. Don't
forget to use all relevant equations, such as Lift/Drag to weight ratios,
Shoe width versus length, entry angle and maximum chord height, as well as
chord distribution across toe width. Demonstrate both as a framed kite and
a soft kite, and compare.
b] Demonstrate how Minnie's shoes would not be as efficient. (i.e.
negative angle of attack)
c]Extrapolate the Bent Stick Theory as it pertains to both of the above.

Answers: (10 points)
Pseudo Intellectual: Who cares !

Correct Answer: EEEEEEEEEEK, A MOUSE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Call an
exterminator ! ! !

    WHACK, whack, . . .. whack,. . . . . whack,. . . . WHACK !

Oh damn, my stick's bent. Hey, just the right dihedral for an Eddy,
great !

Remember, NO study period,
                  No apple for the teacher,
                  No homework !

See you in Tulsa,

John your application for admittance into the Class of Bafoons was
turned down. Seems you need to retake the course before this, the Class
of Morons.
