There's a reference to "FutureFall" in the novelization of "Stationfall."
My guess is that this was originally intended to be the wrap-up for the
series back when Infocom was still at large. From the title and last
chapter of the novel, I'm guessing it was a time-travel adventure, with
the end result being Floyd's recovery.

If this is not the case, I don't know how Activision can possibly
bring Floyd back without ruining the series. The Stationfall game's
ending made it clear that he was damaged beyond repair, and I've always
thought of Floyd as one-of-a-kind, so the "he's a robot, let's just
get new parts for him" explanation doesn't work. If he can simply be
resurrected every time he's destroyed, then Activision is making a
mockery of the touching scenes from Planetfall and Stationfall where
Floyd meets his demise.
