Hehehe... I see your point. Although it's never really bothered me, I guess
there are a couple of other ways to look at it, if you look at some of the
other Zork-world materials that exist. In Steve Meretzky's multiple path
books (which I would assume take place _AFTER_ Zork III) the empire has been
opened up and restored, and there is no mention of a Dungeon Master. I 
assume he has been made redundant, retired, etc. Even if this isn't the case,
there is certainly no need for him 18 years after Zork III in 966, when the
Age of Magic comes to an end and his powers would be pretty much useless 
anyways... so don't think of it as an eternity of boredom, just as... well...
as a few years of it :)
