I am in bad mood and have some time to kill, so I decided to write this:

>DEPRESSED
You are now in DEPRESSED mode.
[Your score just went down by 13 points. Now you have at least something
 to be depressed about.]

Seemingly from nowhere, a weird-looking little fellow in a white gown
appears:
"Hi, I'm Doctor Fred. You can tell me of all your problems. Just make it
 short."

He looks at you expectantly.

When I read this, my first thought was:
"Why does this guy post such a request _here_? The Bard's Tale is definitely
 not I-F"

But perhaps he isn't so stupid after all: I figure that the
"typical" reader of rec.games.int-fiction started playing computer
games around the mid-eighties, like myself, so there is the possibility
that some of us also played The Bard's Tale in those times (I did,
but used to play it on an Atari ST).

Since I-F seems to be dead in the mass market (look at the evolution of
the Legend games), I often feel like a dinosaur.
No one I know (with the fortunate exception of a few good friends which
started playing games in the eighties, too) seems to understand what I
find in those old (and the newer ones like UU0 and Perdition's Flames)
adventure games.
^D

Doctor Fred seems to be fast asleep.

>DEPRESSED OFF
You are no longer in DEPRESSED mode. [I am glad you are feeling better now,
but don't expect any points for it, O.K?]
