+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

These 'Nintendo DS Classic Adventures series' are the port to the NDS
of antique adventure games that have been created in the 80's for old computer
like the TRS-80, ZX Spectrum, Acorn Electron, Commodore 64, Atari 8 bits or
16 bits machines like the Atari ST or the Amiga.

The majority of them are 'text-only' adventures, many others provide the
original illustrations (line-drawing or bitmap graphics) and some have brand
new illustrations.

Enjoy playing them and good luck !

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| How to play these games |
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

All these games (graphic or text adventures) have the same interface
(cf interface.jpg), and can be played exactly the same way.

As Scott Adams, Level 9 or Frotz games have not exactly the same structure,
there may be some differences, but very little...

1 - text input
--------------

There are two ways to type words with the stylus of your Nintendo DS :

'grafiti mode' : you can directly draw the letters on the screen,
according to the PA-Grafiti alphabet (cf grafiti.jpg)

'keyboard mode' : you can use the mini keyboard (cf keyboard.jpg)

'num. keybd mode': you can also use the numerical keyboard

you can choose the input mode by pressing the 'X' button of the NDS

1b - text completion
--------------------

Since v1.2, you can ask for a text completion by drawing a slash '/' with
the stylus in the middle of a word. You can do that as many times you want
until you find the good word - for example :

'You are in the kitchen, you see a can wooden bench,
a bootle of wine, and a cute babe.'

    >CLIMB ON B
-> draw a slash here completes to
    >CLIMB ON BABE
-> draw another slash here completes to
    >CLIMB ON BOTTLE
-> draw another slash here completes to
    >CLIMB ON BENCH
                       -> ok, that's fine

2 - the icons
-------------

To avoid typing always the same things, the most used orders can be called
via the icons - each icon has two or three states, for example, the 'hand'
icon means "GET ", "DROP " and "GIVE ", and the 'N' button means "GO NORTH"
    and "GO UP" -
just pick an icon twice or more to select the good order...

3 - the NDS pad buttons
----------------------

X : swap 'keyboard' and 'grafiti' input modes
    Y / A : means 'YES' or VALID (v1.2 and +)
B : means 'NO' or ERASE TEXT (v1.2 and +)
L / R : changes the image size (Level 9 & Magnetic Scrolls games only)
    START/SELECT : save / restore / pause / exit the game

4 - the vocabulary
------------------

a sentence in these games is defined by a verb + a noun, for example,
"OPEN DOOR", "GO NORTH"... some sentences can have only one word, for
example "INVENTORY" (to see what you're carrying), or "SCORE"

each game has his own vocabulary, but a lot a verbs are common to all the
games - here's a list of the most common words :

GO, ENTER, CLIMB, SWIM, LOOK, EXAMINE, GET, DROP, THROW, CAST, WEAR, REMOVE,
OPEN, CLOSE, LOCK, UNLOCK, BREAK, CUT, CHOP, SAY, KILL, HELP...

in many cases (in AI games), you don't have to write the entire word to be
understand, only the first letters are necessary :

for example, "G HELM" is esquivalent to "GET HELMET", or "CLIM DRAWB"
    is equivalent to "CLIMB DRAWBRIDGE"

(but that won't necessarily work for Frotz/Inform games)

5 - the shortcuts
-----------------

as many words come often in the same game, some shortcuts have been defined :

N S E W : equivalent to "GO NORTH", "GO SOUTH", "GO EAST" and "GO WEST"
NE NW SE SW : in Level9 and Frotz games, this letters are equivalent to
                  "NORTH-EAST", "NORTH-WEST"..
    L : LOOK
    I : INVENTORY
X : EXAMINE (in classic games)
                  EXITS (in Level 9 games)
    H : HELP
G : GET (or AGAIN for Frotz/Inform games)
    SC : SCORE
    SV or SAV : SAVE
    RS or RST : RESTORE
LD or LOA : LOAD (in Level 9 games)

    and perhaps more... try all...

6 - save / restore
------------------

The games are (very) long and difficult adventures, that's why you be save
	and restore your games.

In Classic and Level9 Adventures, just press the START or SELECT button
of your NDS to acces the save/restore menu.

In Magnetic Scrolls and DsFrotz games, just type "SV" or "R" to save and
    restore your game...

	since version 1.5 :
	-------------------

Game data are saved in files, directly on your card, using the libFAT.
The should be DLDI-compatible, so you can patch the games to make them
	compatible with your card!

For more information about DLDI :

		http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI/

	before version 1.5 :
	---------------------

Game data are saved in SRAM, so you perhaps will have to use the menu of
your cart to transfer the SRAM content of your save file (especially if you
have a Supercard) - For others cards (M3...) the SRAM should be automatic.

WARNING !!! some of Level 9 games have not been cracked (Silicon Dreams and
Time and Magik trilogies) and still ask you for a word from
the manual when you want to restore!!!

There are two ways to resolve the problem :

					- find a game manual, and reply correctly to the question!

					- type 'cheat' with the stylus ! the program will try to
find the good word (it can be long, but may work)
