He is among one of my favourite vocalists of the reigning generation, and it makes me immensely happy to see a website on him. This was long overdue. The site, of course, bears the hallmark of my dear friend Nilangshu-da - clear and concise presentation along with a very comprehensive approach to content. As for Nani's remarks about Gwalior Gharana in Calcutta, here is my response :- It would be appropriate to rephrase Nilangshu-da's statement that "Ulhasji is the first to bring Gwalior gayaki to Calcutta". It will be more appropriate to say that UK is the finest Gwalior Gharana performer to reside in Calcutta. Dr. Rabindralal Roy, father and guru of Malabika Kanan, was s disciple of Chatur Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande. A. T. Kanan has been living in Calcutta for many, many years now. Okay : I have received many complaints from people not being able to access
my
site on Ulhas ji properly. I will change the format of the site to a
non-javascript one ASAP. Pls bear with me till then. The site has been
created
for other fans of Ulhas ji and it would be tragic if they can't access the
site.

for the time being, if you have problems with the site, please check
wheether
javascript is enabled for you browser. The other way you can access the site
is thru http://ulhaskashalkar.tripod.com -

All inconveniences regretted.

Nilangshu Haldar

PS. for Daniel Fuchs : Daniel as said earlier I will change the site format,
but I can't imagine how using JS for site menus are rude. It is a feature of
Frontpage which many people use for their sites for the sheer convenience of
providing easy navigation for the site and I am sure no rudeness is
intended.
And Daniel, if the wealth of material and music I have on the site doesn't
force you to visit it, let not any change of format.
