Phil Karn, KA9Q at Bellcore has written a VERY good
implementation, and other folks have helped out
by implementing FTP, SMTP, Telnet, etc to go with it.
It runs on IBM/PC's, inside UNIX processes, soon
to be on the Macintosh and Amiga's, and oh yes,
was born on the Xerox 820 (64K Z80).

It is routinely sending traffic across
amateur radio packet links. It speaks
across several links: 3COM PC Ethernet boards,
SLIP on serial links, AX.25 UI frames,
to name just a few.

You can ftp it from Bellcore or Udel-dewey.
