In the 1st ed of OS:D&I, Dr Tanenbaum indicates that the filesystem is a
separate process from the other three, and could be replaced without
affecting them. Has anyone given serious consideration to porting, if
even partially, Linux's ext2 or BSD's ufs to Minix? What would be the
major issues involved?
