PS/1's, at least the 286 moels I had, use an MFM/RLL disk scheme which is
entirely IBM's own...an early precursor to the almost-ESDI used in the later
PS/2's.  hd=bios should fix it though, I've even used it to get MCA SCSI cards
recognized...
