Hi,

After long not using minix (I've got the '86 book from college :-), I though
I would
reinstall it on an old unused laptop again, to play a bit with compiler
design. Without
carrying around the massive gcc. I download 2.0.0 from the internet &
ordered the
lastest version of the book, but still have some questions:

a) I seem to remember something about 2.02, should I get it, and if so,
where.

b) communication support: primary mail and if possible news (I have an uucp
provider, so uucp will be good enough).

c) ftp would be nice. Is there tcp/ip (slip or ppp) support ?

d) my laptop does not have a modem (well, pcmcia ones), anyone know if there
is
support for that, or would that be my first project ? :-)

e) the cc I remember was from the Amsterdam Compiler Kit. Is that still
alive ? Are
there any options to get access for experimental work ?

f) I'm aware of the work Kees Bot did, should I use his version instead ? (I
have no
specific interest in gcc or X, at least on minix).

g) Are there any known issues running minix as the single OS on a laptop ?
(Compaq Contura 430, 32Mb Ram, 760 Mb Hd)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Regards,
Jerry van Dijk
