| RESCANNING
| ==========
|
| Rescanning is the means by which you query the newsreader to
| find any new articles available in the newsgroups you are subscribed
| to. This action is accomplished through the menubar item "Rescan",
| under the "Actions" menu.
|
| When you execute this command, the newsreader will go through
| several steps. First it will save your newsrc file, then load in
| the list of active newsgroups, and finally it will rescan the
| groups and update the newsgroup summary display.
|
| The newsreader has an auto-rescan feature which by default
| rescans for new articles after a half hour of idle time. However,
| it is important to note that the newsreader does not scan for new
| articles when you enter or leave a newsgroup, nor does it save your
| newsrc file. In order to save your newsrc file, you need to select
| the menu item "Save Newsrc" from the Actions menu. It is wise to
| do this every so often if you are reading news for an extended
| period of time. Eventually the newsreader will provide an automatic
| service for saving your newsrc file periodically.
