^TI^Getting Help in Tch
^P^
Help in Tch is generally a pretty simple affair; point to something
(whether a Tcl/Tk command name, an option, or a control in the Tch
window itself), and if there is help available, you'll see it in the
white
^B^Description
window. However, there are a few points which need explaining here.
^P^
Help for menu items
is given in a single help file for each menu; this makes it easy to just
position the cursor over a menu title (without clicking), and then go
through the documentation for that menu, reading the associated help items
for each menu entry. I thought that the alternative, having a separate
help item appear for each menu item as the cursor was dragged over that
menu item, would be too annoying.
^P^
To get help concerning the various
^I^windows
in Tch, position the mouse cursor over the
^I^title
of the window. This provides a convenient, consistent way of obtaining
help for a window, while still being able to point at things
^I^inside
the window, to obtain help on them.
^P^
If you're still finding it difficult to use Tch, even with all of these
help features, then I'm doing something wrong--either the help text isn't
sufficient or clear, or the program is too complex. Write to me and tell
me how I can make it better--write to Ken McDonald, email address
