Don't confuse byte-compilation and running.  Steve fixed up the
warnings to not yell at the byte-compiler, but Ebola will reappear
whenever `following-char' (or `precefing-char') returns 0.

I agree with this, but we should probably fix up the spurious
warnings.  I'll download Oslo now to see what Steve has done for this
release.
