It should ignore them, because otherwise it isn't possible to share
the .netrc with the standard ftp program. What did ange-ftp with them?
I'd never had any problems with ange-ftp and my .netrc file.

In the case of cd it might be also a good idea, to use the given
directory as a default, if no directory is specified in the find-file
argument (eg: /anonymous@ftp.tnt.uni-hannover.de:).
