I suppose that I should chime in here.  I haven't up until now because 
Martin has pretty much stated my position.  But so there's no
confusion:

 1. dynodump is only obsolete on an _as_yet_unreleased_version_ of
    Solaris.  Meaning, that pretty much _everybody_ running XEmacs on
    Solaris needs it.

 2. Where did the version 1.8 come from.  The last dynodump I released 
    (ftp://opcom.sun.ca/pub/tars) was 1.1.4.  If you're going to take
    over a package, please include something in the readme saying that 
    you've done so.
