I now see that the info tarball was put out there 17 hours later than
the source tarball.  I was probably still looking at the directory as
it was 17 (or more) hours earlier.  I probably didn't type 'g' to
re-read the directory; I just assumed that it must be password
protected, so I entered the password stuff and then it showed up.  (I
probably typed 'g' at that point.)

Sorry.

Maybe efs (or dired) could give an indication in dired mode if a
directory has asynchronously changed???
