Yea, it took me a while to figure out that I was not doing something
wrong.

I finally got it with lynx.  But ftp is the natural for such jobs, can
be configures to preserve file dates (ncftp) and the like which are
probably beyond most web browsers, no?

And who wants to tie up XEmacs w3-ing such a file over a modem
connection anyway.

Netscape, nah, who can dope out the terms and conditions?
