Go for it.  Any insight you can provide into the problems here would
be most useful, and if you solve the worst of the problems, you'll be
a hero. :-)  I believe Chuck's recommendation on this was to look
for ways the code was being called stupidly.  I've noticed that I can
get into states where each visible frame is being redrawn multiple
times on each keystroke, which can't be good for performance.
