I'm learning to use the customization thing. Stipple works now!
It's not doing quite what I would expect though.

For Dired Face Setuid, when I started customize, there was two
sections for it. One had checked: display class, color, foreground,
red, and the other had checked display class all, bold on. The
(sample) showed bold red on my default parchmentpaper pixmap
background.

I wanted to set the background pixmap for it to
bg-yellow-highlight.xpm, so I clicked the INS button to make a new
section at the top. There, I clicked display type X, and stipple, and
typed in the filename of the pixmap. The background changed, but the
font turned black, until I also set foreground in that section.

I would expect the foreground in the second section to be carried in,
since its display class is checked color, without a display type.

Perhaps what I should do is make a section for each display, and not
try and make them inherit like that??? One for type X, class
Color... and a second for type tty, class mono, or whatever? That
will work I bet. But it ought to work both ways, right?

So then, the stipple option should perhaps disappear when type tty is
checked? (I wonder how you do that... well, I'm on page 42 of the
wizard book. It'll be a while, methinks.)

It would be good if there was a path I could set to pixmaps, and to
have TAB filename completion in either or both of the entry widget and
the minibuffer. Browsing with the Open-a-File dialog would be good
too maybe.

Have you seen the color chooser common dialog that comes with Tk8.0?
It has a really neato way to pick colors. I would like to see an
XEmacs mode that can do that; with sliders and everything. I bet it
can be done... Perhaps I will learn how someday. It would be very
useful for html, programming, and pixmaps!
