Well, I am actually using one of these ENVIZEX Terminals and I never
had such a problem related to the above environment setting. Actually
I am using:

	C2731A HP ENVIZEX X-Terminal (12MB)
	Firmware B.05.04
	Server B.06.09

The only feature I'm missing is this pretty recycler cursor. But this
is not a matter of the numeric/symbolic IP.

I've never tried another but gcc. HP Compilers frighten me!
Nevertheless, the described behaviour comes with all releases since
19.13!

But one more remark about XEmacs on startup. If our fontserver crashes
XEmacs refuses displaying anything. After more than 30min there were
some messages about failed X-Request.
