This is not really a flame, since I'm guilty of this kind of a thing as
well. And I realize that the newsgroup is high traffic especially right
now near release. Changing of subjects and long threads hurt this too.

But how many times do we have to see a message about how vm is taking a
long time to flush the cache (or quit) in the new beta. How many times
do we see a post about gnus and the xref/buffer selection error. How
many times do we see the post about about how you can get an error on
ad-is-advised when efs loads. How many times do we see the solution to
these posted.

Is the traffic in this group so out of control that we really need our
own daily mini-faq, just to know what's going on?

The worst part is that I shouldn't even be complaining, since I'm always
a proponent of `it's better to be overreported than not reported'. But
you see, I'm in a rather pissy mood today. ;-)

<serious suggestion mode>
Maybe the traffic in the group is too high for people to keep track of
these things. Also, I know I sometimes see posts about problems, but I
don't think they affect me, and suddenly 3 days later I have the same
problem. And by then, the original report is usually gone from my mind
(and maybe even my news spool).

Maybe an xemacs-beta-fixed or -faq list which Steve could send messages
like `Gnus: xref or buffer selection error' and say that the this bug
has been fixed in 5.4.37 which will be in the next beta. Or could mail
out `VM: takes a long time' and include Kyle's post about it being
normal. Or `efs load error' and include my work around and info that
it's hopefully fixed in the next beta.

The low traffic on that list, combined with hopefully more obvious
subjects might help?
