This is the kind of thing that filladapt is designed to do, and
does, including filling the above paragraph with the "*" bullet
and the supercite "Don>" quoting and the " > " quoting that VM
uses.  This is what I meant by not seeing the utility of a
left-margin.

THe main problem with filladapt right now is that it knows _too
many_ bullet types and it matches them sometimes when a bullet
isn't wanted.
