Another observation regarding in/correct mail address:

1. OK:

I usually run xemacs-20.1-b6 on a NIS+ client WS which has no mailhost
alias in its /etc/hosts file. There is one in the NIS+ table hosts:

aichner@midnight(220) niscat hosts
...
engine mailhost 131.101.192.6
...
aichner@midnight(221)

Neither user-mail-address nor mail-host-address are set.

hosts are resolved via DNS.

My From:
line and Message-ID: are just fine!

2. NOT OK!

When I run xemacs on the very mailhost and NIS+ server itself, which
has the mailhost entry in its /etc/hosts file as well (that's where
the NIS+ entry comes from after all) I get
Message-ID:
  <rxsbu8ybxsm.fsf@engine.i-did-not-set--mail-host-address--so-shoot-me>

It is also set up to use DNS for hostname resolution.

I have seen this under Gnus v5.4.17.

Any suggestions?

Adrian

PS: I have set mail-host-address in our site-start.el since but I
don't think I should need to.
