This must be A Law. I witness this phenomenon for most of the lisp
packages I release, I've seen it for Grail, and other net releases
I've been involved with. The actual pattern is:

    1. I'm going to release it today
    2. Damn, nasty showstopper bug, okay lets fix it
    3. [repeat 1-2 a finite number of times]
    4. Release the beast
    5. Plow through nasty bug reports from The World At Large that
couldn't have possibly made it through, but somehow did
       anyway.
    6. Go to #1 and repeat until you learn better.

Or maybe its just us, and we suck.
