I know nothing about Linux, but our resident expert says the patch
should be relevent to us.  Without the patch, a tty-XEmacs works just
fine, but an X-XEmacs (with $DISPLAY pointing back to me) core dumps.
Sorry I don't have that traceback.

Anyway, I grabbed and applied this patch to b97.  I couldn't get
through the build process -- the infinite puresize adjustment cycle is
biting me now (even though this went away on Solaris):
