Why?  And how did 19.14 solve this with ange-ftp?  What I find
incredible in the efs autoloading story is that I have to fight for
the behaviour that was perfectly logical to everyone for *years*. :-(

I don't understand how anyone could think of requiring all the
previous happy users of ange-ftp (i.e. most of XEmacs users) to add
(require 'efs-auto) to their ~/.emacs.

I refuse to experiment with it if it won't make it into the default
XEmacs.
