OTOH, it's too light to most people.  My choice would have been closer
to "gray75" (which is darker than "gray80"), only I avoided it and
chose "gray80" because:

1) a lighter shade is a compromise to the users used to see white

2) "gray75" is a synonim for "gray", so all the people who use "gray"
   in the color settings of their packages would have lost.

It seems to blend nicely to gray80.  I'm not sure what is the exact
level of adjustment.

Again, no.  I don't think the default color should be the one that
(almost) everyone agrees is useless.
