Well I'm stumped.  I'm sure it's some sort of bizarre pilot error, but
I just can't see it.  On the two machines I see it on, both Solaris
2.5.1, one with 19.14 the other with 19.15b92, I've moved all my stuff
totally out of the way, and still see it.

unsetenv DISPLAY ==> no problem
DISPLAY set, no auth ==> see messages
DISPLAY set, auth ==> no problem

If anybody else sees this, please speak up.  My sanity is at stake...
