I did

$ xmodmap - <<=altair=
keycode KP_1 = 0x0c4
keycode KP_2 = 0x0d6
=altair=

and repeated your test case and no crash, so I hope whatever you found
has been fixed.

I received the same headers back that I sent:

Mime-Version: 1.0 (generated by tm-edit 7.100)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

which look fine to me.

Chuck, the sendmail root exploit bug of the month has already been
distributed on the 'net for sendmail-8.8.4. :-(
