I added --use-system-malloc and --dynamic=yes and succeeded. Whether or
not that's cause and effect, I dunno, but since that core dump showed an error
in gmalloc.c, I thought it was worth a try.

Linux 2.1.21, libc 5.4.20, gcc 2.7.2.1

./configure --with-png=yes --with-offix=yes --with-mule=yes \
--with-sound=both --with-scrollbars=athena --debug=no --error-checking=none \
--cflags=-"m486 -g -O4 -fno-strength-reduce -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 \
-malign-functions=2" --use-system-malloc --dynamic=yes

Configured for `i586-unknown-linux2.1.21'.
