Hello All,

This is not a bug-report. It describes a symptom I don't understand
yet.

I failed to subscribe to xemacs-beta@xeamcs.org two days ago because
my mail message was `converted' on the way out. In the OUTBOX that
message contained a beaten up signature of mine:

Teradyne GmbH Adrian Aichner Applications Engineer
  Semiconductor Test Group Telephone +49/89/418 61 (0)-208
  Dingolfinger Stra^[)I^N_^Oe 2 Fax +49/89/418 61-217^[$)C
  D-81673 M^[)I^N\^ONCHEN E-mail aichner@ecf.teradyne.com^[$
)C

I first though this had happened because of a \334 character ("U) in
my .signature file, but could not reproduce that problem

Today, in the middle of editing an html-mode buffer the
file-coding-system suddenly switched on me. It should be
'no-conversion for html-mode buffers (due to what I believe was a bug
it was 'no-conv in xemacs-20.0-b34). Suddenly the buffer's
file-coding-system was iso-2022-8. Characters I tried to insert would
show up as ^?.

I quit the buffer.

A mail I sent after this exposed the same problem. My signature
address got changed from aichner@ecf.teradyne.com to
aichner@ecf.teradyne.com^[$)C

Any ideas?

Adrian
