Well, once I got around the fact that my release of 'patch' (2.1) didn't
listen to
the Index: lines, and as a result dropped a lot of cruft into /tmp and blew a
few patches,
it seems to have mostly built and run OK. gnuclient works, gnus works (as far
as I've
stressed it), in general has lived for about 2 hours...

A few notes:

1) At least at the b34 level, and the latest-and-greatest IBM xlc (3.1.4.4),
there are
problems with -O3. I haven't investigated further.

2) Again at least under b34, using "-pg" to get profiling dies, I suspect due
to
lack of support for it in src/unexaix.c

3) There are a few compiler warnings that *seem* harmless, I'll investigate and
hopefully post patches tomorrow.

4) -DNO_ANSI_KEYWORDS is only needed because we include /usr/local/include,
and it gives the BIND 4.9.5 header files indigestion about something (I have
to admit
not remembering exactly what).

/Valdis
