Very Bad idea IMvHO.

It is the only icon I use :-) Under normal circumstances the first
user event my XEmacs geets is a down button on the News icon.

I understand (have had the same problem. I hate every mailer that
reomoves mail from the spool). Maybe it should put up a dialog box
asking which mailer to use. (VM default of course) the save that in a
variable 'mail-package'.
