Colin Rafferty spake thus:
->Why are people starting XEmacs so often that they complain about startup
->speed? I won't exit this particular instance until after I install
->Tirana.
->
->I am serious here. It's like complaining that your operating system
->takes too long to boot.

3 reasons from personal experience.

1) In my current post, I have an NT3.51 box on my desk which basically
just runs hwm. This machine (and or hwm) is incredibly unstable. If I
leave myself logged in overnight, then I can pretty well guarantee a
blue screen at least once a week. :-(

2) As a postgrad student we did not have one machine each. This meant
we had to log out a lot. Many of these machines were diskless ELCs -
not superbly fast.

3) I turn my linux box off at home every night, 'cos otherwise it
keeps me awake...
