TAXI    - Transparent asynchronous transmitter/receiver interface.

TAXI was borrowed from FDDI to allow implementation of ATM at 100Mb/s over
multimode fiber using 4B/5B encoding.  Developers chose TAXI because
devices were readily available with which to build first generation ATM
interfaces.
