   Amateur Radio ADF 73.023

Amateur Radio ADF (Antenna Direction Finder) can
be used to quickly locate the correct heading for
a directional antenna. The direction calculated
will be the shortest distance (as the crow flies)
between the latitude and longitude of the home QTH
and latitude and longitude of the selected country
or U.S. city/state. To display the long path, double
click on the 'Degrees:' label. Except where additional
locations within a DXCC country are listed, the
antenna heading will be toward the center of the
chosen country. (Exception: Russia points to
 western Russia.)

Upon clicking on a U.S. state button, the direction
will be calculated from the home QTH to the center of
the chosen state. Further narrowing of the direction
can be done by selecting a city from the city list for
that state. When the DXCC list has been chosen, simply
type in the country call prefix and the list will
automatically scroll to that prefix/country. The DXCC
list can be sorted by call sign or by country, by right
clicking on the selection box and then selecting the
 desired sort.

Upon clicking on the GRID button, the direction
will be calculated from the home QTH to the location
of the entered grid (Ex: Both EL29 or EL29AB formats
 can be used).

The home QTH latitude and longitude parameters are
 entered into the preferences window.

 Additional features:

 1. U.S. call area map.
 2. U.S. band graphs.
 3. World map with DXCC country locator list.

Note: XP and other users with machines above W98
should start and test the HamADF_XP.exe
version included in the zip file to see
if it works properly on their machine.
If it works ok, right click the program
icon and change the path to HamADF_XP.exe .

Note: The user's degrees.minutes should be actual
         degrees.minutes: dd.00-59 (not a percent
of 60 minutes: dd.00-99). If your
degrees.minutes are in the form dd.00-99,
then multiply the .minutes by 0.6 to get
         actual minutes.
         (Ex: [percent degrees.minutes: W95.75] =
          [actual degrees.minutes: W95.45]
          (.75 x .6 = .45)).
