   Screen Saver Override 3.11

Screen Saver Override provides for a more flexible
screen saver environment. Setting the computer's screen
saver time to too short an interval will cause the screen
saver to become a constant nuisance. This program enables
the user to adjust the screen saver time to a better
interval when the computer is in use. Upon starting
Screen Saver Override, the screen saver will not activate
before a user designated time. This time should be set to
a greater period than the time the screen saver is set to
in the control panel (screen saver in the control panel
should be set to one or two minutes if this program is
installed). If the computer mouse is moved before the
Screen Saver Override time is completed, the Screen Saver
Override time is reset to start again. Thus, if the
Screen Saver Override program is running and it's screen
saver activation time is set to seven minutes, the screen
saver will activate only after seven minutes of mouse
inactivity. This way the screen saver will at least
activate should the user become involved in other business
and forget to set the Screen Saver Override program to
 standby mode.

  Other features:

  1. Single click the program's tray icon will switch the
Screen Saver Override program from standby to non-
     standby.

  2. An Fn key can be selected from a drop down box that
will turn the screen saver ON. Pressing Shift and the
same Fn key will lock the screen saver off.

  3. There is an option to leave the program in the
standby mode if the screen saver is automatically
turned on by Screen Saver Override, or if an Fn key
is used to activate the screen saver.

  4. Right click the tray icon to set the program to
     standby and to set preferences.

  5. Right click the tray icon to set the program to
switch between windows using the Shift+Del keys
(WinLoop). This feature may cause other key
combinations to give bad results. It was created
to help easily shift between programs while driving.

  6. Right click the tray icon to set the program to
lock the screen saver off (Lock out). Click again
on this new icon or click on the tray icon to disable
the screen saver off 'Lock out'. This cn also be done
by pressing Shift+Fn (the function key you selected
     in preferences).

  7. Right click the tray icon and check the 'Transparency'
menu item to set the program to use a mask to dim the
screen rather than execute the screen saver (XP and
above only). This feature was implemented so that a
user can use the transparency mask to dim the screen
when operating a computer in a vehicle at night. Click
the 'Adjust' button to choose a color and use the slide
bar to adjust the transparency. To remove the mask,
click anywhere on it or press the Enter, Esc, or Space
      bar.

  7. Right click the tray icon and check the 'Power monitor'
menu item to cause an alarm to sound upon an electrical
power failure. This will need to be used on laptops where
the batteries temporarily keep the computer running. The
alarm sound can be changed by replacing the Alarm.wav
file with a sound of your choice. This feature was
implemented mainly as a way to warn of a power failure
during the night hours, so that immediate action can be
taken to secure travel trailers, homes, water pipes, etc.
      from freezing during winter time.

  8. Right click the tray icon and click the 'Clipboard' menu item
to clear the clipboard, or make the contents of the clipboard
all upper case or all lower case letters.

  9. Right click the tray icon and click the 'Gen MD5' menu item
to generate an MD5 password using a shorter password.
Enter the short password in the 'Minor Password' box.
Then click the 'Generate' button to generate the MD5
password that will be displayed in the 'MD5 Password' box.
The MD5 password will be 32 characters long. If a shorter
(truncated) password length is needed, right click the 'MD5
Password' box and select a shorter length. The purpose of
generating an MD5 password is to be able to create a
longer, more secure password with a shorter, more
      memorable password.
Note: A new function key option has been added to make
generating the MD5 password easier. Now you can
type in your short password into a password box,
double click it to highlight the password, and then
press the chosen function key (F8, etc) to quickly
and automatically generate your MD5 password.

  10. Right click the tray icon and click the 'Min all on SS' to
minimize all running windows upon pressing the Screen Saver
      Override activation key.

Note: The Screen Saver Override program would sometimes
(but rarely) take the focus off the currently focused
window. There is an option to select an execute byte
now in the preferences window. If this program is
dropping the focus of another window/program that
is being used, choose a different execute byte from
        the dropdown box.
